I am a visual artist born in the busy area of Mexico City. Moved to California to pursue a Masters in Fine Arts from the University of California in Santa Barbara (UCSB). I have worked since as a visual artist, art educator and video producer and freelance graphic designer. In the TV industry I have worked directing, producing, editing and animating shows and spots for several TV stations and production companies. In 2006 I directed and hosted “Mejora Tu Vida” a KPMR show in Spanish to bring fresh information to the Latino population at the Central Coast. Simultaneously, I worked as production manager at KPMR from 2005-2007. In 2007, I helped edit the award winning documentary "The Shaken Tree" at the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival and the year before I edited a documentary on homelessness for the same producers called “Suckerfish”. Later in 2008, I produced, edited and hosted “Non-Profit Spotlight” a series show dedicated to broadcast the best non-profit organizations in the area of Santa Barbara, CA. I've also worked as Staff Producer at CreaTV San Jose, from 2013 to 2016 leading the production of Health Trust TV, Latino Focus and Valley Politics, winning a WAVE award for this last show.
Besides my video productions I've also worked heavily in the area of education as an art specialist and instructor for different schools and organizations. I have applied concepts of art in a variety of media, and teaching diverse groups from kids to adults. Some of these organizations I've collaborated with are De Anza College, Community School of Music and Art, ArtHouse Kids, Starting Arts, Boys and Girls Clubs, Helios New School for gifted kids, and most recently Stratford Preparatory teaching Visual Arts and Digital Media.
Furthermore, I enjoy creating my personal visual work on both traditional and digital strategies.  You can check some of my recent sketches and illustrations at Instagram @vivi_LeijaSysak.
